Tooth whitening is currently on the rise. However, such treatments are usually performed with invasive substances that end up harming the dental veneers, a damage that is often irreversible.
So it’s not worth reaching such an extreme point. If we want to show white teeth, we should not fail to taste some excellent natural products, some of which we will discuss in this article. Check out these precious tips for natural teeth whitening.
Why do teeth darken?
The enamel that covers the teeth is a bit porous; this causes it to be slowly filled by everything we eat daily. So if we drink a wine or eat blueberry, for example, our teeth immediately turn a slight purple color.
Of course this is not a problem, after all, if we brush our teeth well the color will disappear, but, there’re other food and drink that stain our teeth in a deeper way and over time, they lose the color white and get a color faded , which ranges from yellow to brown and is very unsightly.
Dark drinks, such as coffee, tea and soft drinks are at the top of the list of products that stain the teeth. Cigarette smoking and poor oral hygiene also help to impair the picture, i.e. increase the porosity of the tooth enamel.
However, we find food that will help us keep our teeth white. Among the main vegetables and fruits that play this role, we find the pear, apple, carrot, cucumber, lettuce, broccoli and spinach.
Some of them are excellent for their fibers, others because their nutrition create a safety-film on the enamel of the teeth, keeping them from staining.
In turn, cheeses also play an interesting role because they have protein and fat that neutralize the acids of other foods. They also stimulate the production of saliva that contains calcium and phosphorus, which helps re-mineralize the enamel.
